Commoners Church is group of people dreaming about building a better way forward, together. We are in the beginning stages of co-creating a spiritual community centered on a collective desire to experience love and liberation in our world. Though we find ourselves at the intersection of what is and what can be, and come from various backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences, we gather around a common longing for justice, goodness, beauty, and love.

Regardless of who you are, what you’ve been through, or what you believe/don’t believe, we invite you to join us as we dream, discover, and build, together.

About

Our Vision

A better way forward, together.

We believe a better world is possible. Our aim is to play a part in building and experiencing a world marked by beauty, wholeness, hope, and love… A world liberated from oppression, isolation, and alienation.

To that end, we are co-creating a spiritual community of love and liberation with a collective desire to see heaven come to earth. We are dreamers, troublemakers, organizers, and builders who are creatively reimagining the future of the Christian faith for our context.

Though we don’t have all the answers, Love compels us to organize, dream, struggle, and co-create a better way forward, together.

Our Values

Love

We want to become a multi–ethnic, multi–cultural, inter–generational community bearing witness to the radical, unconditional, relentless, room-for-all love of God. This means that we work hard to create spaces of heaven on earth where we can honor and celebrate the beautifully diverse ways each of us show up in the world. We are committed to co-creating a welcoming, hospitable, accessible, generous, and radically loving community where we are both accepted and empowered as our most authentic, beloved self.

Liberation

We want to become a community for the people. This means that we’re working towards collective liberation as we heal the soul and the world by dismantling oppressive systems and structures in our faith traditions and world. We are committed to co-creating a community that participates in the renewal of our neighborhoods and cities by centering the most marginalized among us. Because heaven on earth means justice and liberation for all.
